Vintage 1950s Hand Hooked Wool Rug - Tumbling Block Pattern - Mid Century Provenance
Low stock: 1 left
Very beautifully crafted hand hooked wool rug in an intricate Tumbling Block Pattern - shades of Brown Yellow Gold. Provenance from 1950s with maker - Rhea Gentry Martin name - will be included. I have covered the signator's name in photo for privacy. Rug arrived from an estate with this pinned note. This rug is from era of McGown Teachers Workshop of Pearl McGown who founded it to instruct teachers to maintain the art of hooking -- rugs that is -- sort of the artisan's joke for the art. I do not know Ms. Martin's background, only note obvious artistic craftsmanship.
Rug back has stitched on brown medium wale corduroy which has well protected the rug - backing has some fade but it is a practical application. Backing could be replaced. The rug was used, lovingly enjoyed - gently used as in very good condition. Rug has been packed and deserves cleaning from your trusted professional should you choose. It is in Very Good shape without bad odors.
