A vintage two piece monkey belt buckle by David Webb. Solid 18K yellow gold. Both pieces have the maker mark and 18K.
Size 2" tall x 1-1/25" wide monkey... belt slip 1-3/8" x 3/8" interior dimensions. Weight 51 grams.
Estate item... the previous owner was a contemporary and friend of Mr. Webb. The owner was a furniture designer (Drexel) in NY city and went on the develop Yellow Monkey Village antique shops in Cross River NY. Family lore is Mr. Webb designed this monkey buckle for the owner - but as family estate item lore goes, that may be not be correct. Note, the Yellow Monkey Village sign photo was quite similar.
Very Good pre-owned condition - no issues and likely worn very little, if at all.
