Exquisitely detailed Layton Apple Head Doll signed by Helen and dated 1976. This is the vintage 1970's version of the Apple Head dolls made for centuries. The Doll is seated on a twig chair with wooden churn before her. The yarn rug on which they sit is made to look like a hooked rug. The doll seated is approx 6 1/2" high. She has a sealed face with painted features and is fully clothed from muslin pantaloons and under skirt trimmed in matching lace, a feedsack look cotton dress trimmed with lace and a cameo. Her black white check apron is red crosstitch trimmed. Her mohair look hair is bun style. She has painted high button shoes. Her hands feel like wire and are wrapped.
