Revere Ware Cookware Double Boiler Inserts Depths - Two Sizes

I have noted two different set depths to the Revere Ware double boiler handled inserts... both of these inserts hold the same 2 quart volume, but the extruded ring holds them at different depths in the pan.

one ring is 1" deep... the other 1-1/2" deep...

most likely, the 1" depth was designed for the 2 quart saucepans... and the 1-1/2" depth for the 3 quart saucepans... though, the inserts will work with either pan.
